2010 – A Grand Year!

On this cold and windy January afternoon, what better way to warm up than to reflect back upon summer 2010? First let’s rewind the year in pictures, and then outline some statistics we generated in 2010.

As for statistics …

The park has been under renovation since 2002. Although great progress has been made, recovery from such an undertaking takes years so it thrills me to see the progress of 2010. We saw:

  • 15% more campers than in 2009, and
  • 24% more than in 2008

We also had fewer people with us than in 2009; we’re seeing smaller families.

We hit the average number of folks staying more than 1 night, but those who did so stayed much longer. We had 362 more camper nights from those who stayed longer than we had in 2009.

In June and July we greeted considerably more overnighters than usual. During this same timeframe, the region experiences its wheat harvest (see these other blogs of ours dedicated to this fascinating event). I was worried that 2010 brought us 25% fewer harvesters, but truly I’m not sure where we would have parked all the extra overnighters if we’d had all of our harvesters!

More of our guests bought some Blacksmith Coffee Roastery products, but they didn’t buy as many t-shirts or sweatshirts as in earlier years.

We expanded our affiliations to include Best Parks in America, and so many of our guests completed the online survey about their stay that we were recognized with the GuestRated “A” Award for the third consecutive year.

That’s a sampling of our 2010 pics and stats!

We genuinely appreciate everyone who had a role in these accomplishments, from those who camped or shopped with us, people who referred campers to us, our staff and friends, contractors who got us here, and certainly God Himself.

I collect this information and review the pictures each year so I can plan what should be done for the next year. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would certainly love to have you share them with us here. Perhaps you’ll even come by later and see what we create!

We stand ready to welcome you in 2011, and we look forward to whatever lies ahead!

Oh dear, it wasn’t a dream … it really is white outside!

If you are looking for a great RV park to stay at this looks like the best one in north west Kansas, and the owner makes you feel like family. Happy camping

Love the stats! As a camper/marketer I find this fascinating and optimistic that campgrounds had a great year in 2010!

Thanks Eric. Sorry for the delay in responding (had some frozen pipes that took me out of the office for more than a week!).

Yes, I’m excited about 2010, and from the looks of the reservations coming in already, 2011 looks mighty fine as well. Let’s say our prayers that it continues looking so good!
