Farmer David is here with me, evaluating our U-Pick Organic Garden. This was a new venture for 2009, and the ideas for improvements have been flowing all summer.

Before we launch into 2010, Farmer David would like to express his gratitude to all who shared visits with him this summer.

Since the growing season is over, I want to take this time to tell the people who utilized the garden that I appreciate that you found pleasure in my garden. To the ones who I met, I enjolyed our conversations. I’m looking forward to meeting more new people next year. The rewards I received from the garden far exceeded my expectations.

Have a good winter,
Farmer David.

The 2010 garden will have a few separate plots: pumpkins, cucumbers, and canteloupe … so the main garden won’t be as challenged by the vines. Aside from extra plots, the main garden will also be expanded in size.

Pickins will still be free to tbose who camp here, and donations for Farmer David will still be the means for expressing your appreciation.

We’ll also be adding sweet corn, sweet onions (to the varieties we already had), and we’ll stagger the salad greens. We’ll eliminate the beets, and cut back on the green beans but also add another variety of green beans to the list.

We’ll also add more cabbage.

We’ll cut back on the hot peppers but we’ll add more bell peppers.

Please provide us with your thoughts about what we should add to the garden. If you weren’t here this year, go ahead and supply us with your wish list. We’ll spend the winter determining the 2010 layout.

We’re anxious to have your input!
