Farmer David has gained notoriety this year. He created the U-Pick Organic Garden for the guests at High Plains Camping and he became an icon … an overnight sensation!

Farmer David has been a friend to High Plains Camping for several years but this is the first year he’s had interaction with the guests themselves. At first he merely went about the business of tending to the garden, but when the produce began growing and the summer guests began arriving, well … his time here evolved into a social event.

Guests will walk over to pick their produce and the friendly greetings will turn into long and entertaining conversations. Yes, those simple greetings will open up stories of gardens, produce & techniques, which lead to tales of home, the RV, the road, and the next destination.

After some time in the garden, he’s been known to stop by the office carrying a pail of green beans and grining from ear to ear. He’s had more great visits and thinks RVers and campers are rather fascinating people!

You may have seen pictures of Farmer David working in the garden, but they don’t show his face. To see him … well, you have to stay here and catch him working in the garden.

Go ahead. Interrupt him. He’s hoping you will. He loves his garden but he really enjoys visiting with the guests! It’s a highlight of his week.

This free amenity to those who stay at High Plains Camping is provided by Farmer David. He accepts donations to help offset the costs of the garden.
