Organic Garden Taking Shape

Organic produce. Vegetables and fruits for your meal. Stay at High Plains Camping this summer or fall and pick from the garden.

APRIL 13, 2009:  The field has been tilled and prepared for planting, but the ground needs to warm up a few more degrees before seeds can be planted.

The campground owner has a farmer friend who will plant this garden for the guests at the RV park. He loves farming and hopes the guests will appreciate his produce.

This is the first year so we’ll learn as we go with this program.  We’ll provide 2 pots where people can donate to show their appreciation to David The Farmer.

There will be large variety of produce. As the plants are planted I’ll update this posting to give you the full list.

APRIL 25, 2009:  The farmer was back today to till again, and to begin planting. The onions are in the ground!

Tilling is done. Leveling is taking place. Planting is next.

APRIL 28, 2009:  Farmer David planted spinach, lettuce, and beets. Afterward Mother Nature provided some rain.
APRIL 30, 2009:  Planted radishes, cucumbers, & carrots.

MAY 5, 2009:  Farmer David added canteloupe, potatoes, and more cucumbers to the garden. Once again, when he finished Mother Nature provided the water. His timing is incredible!
MAY 13, 2009:  One month to the day since we began this blog, and here’s how it looks now!
Today’s additions:   tomato, bell green pepper, zucchini, pumpkin, and green beans. More updates to come as more produce is planted.
We’re SO excited! Can’t wait for pickin’ time!
